Thinking Outside of the Box Did you know that many people think that using a cardboard box once and passing it on to a local recycler is the most responsible way to help the environment? Boiteanical begs to differ, in fact, most boxes that are sent to a traditional recycler are actually being terminated ahead of their time and unfortunately this method of recycling requires a great deal of energy, chemicals and emissions that have their own harmful impact on our environment, not to mention all of the trees that have to be cut down to make new boxes. Recycling vs Reuse Recycling is the act of collecting a product that seems to
have completed its functional intention and processing that product for its raw
materials. Those raw materials can then be manufactured into a new product,
generally used for a different purpose. Reuse is the act of reclaiming a product so that it may be used one or more times, usually for a related purpose. Reuse delays the recycling process, assures maximum lifespan of the product and reduces the need for virgin fiber to make new cardboard boxes. |
